Certified School Counselors

Mrs. Jennifer Zavala has been working in the field of education for nearly 15 years.  Her experience spans from early childhood through middle school.  She attended the University of Texas at Brownsville and obtained her Master's in School Counseling from Lamar University in Beaumont.  She is originally from Emporia, Ks., but has called the Rio Grande Valley home for over 20 years.  She is a mom of three boys and loves to spend her time following the San Benito Mighty Greyhound Marching Band and going to football games.

Mrs. Elma Nuñez has over 40 years experience in public education. She has worked with students in the classroom, as a coach, and in her current position as a counselor.  She received her degree from Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas.  She has been a part of the Bulldog Counseling Department since it's inception in 2007!  She has two children and enjoys spending her free time reading. 

Our beliefs

We believe, that with the right support, every child can reach his/her academic and personal goals.  We believe that mental heath is as important as physical health and that it is our duty to provide the highest quality school counseling services to all of our students!

Additional Support

We understand that we may not always have the time or resources to adequately support all students' needs.  For this reason , we work closely with several outside agencies to ensure our students get the care they deserve.  Together, we can find solutions that will ensure that our students receive services that are  best suited for the student's individual needs.
